Today, however, the California Lottery is revealing its latest millionaire is a player who bought a winning ticket at an Elks Lodge in Southern California! Jaryd Hochberger is taking home $3,135,094 on a Mega Millions® ticket that matched five of six numbers in an October draw. Hochberger bought that lucky ticket at the Elks Lodge #1917 on Washington Place in Culver City. While Hochberger wishes to remain private about his plans for the money, the Culver City Elks Lodge is celebrating because they get $15,675 just for selling that lucky ticket. While it’s not your usual grocery store or gas station that sells winning California Lottery tickets, Culver City Elks Lodge members enjoy the convenience of buying tickets there. “It’s an additional source of income for us. Rather than having to go somewhere else, our members can buy tickets right here,” Caspar de Jong, Culver City Elks Lodge treasurer, told the California Lottery. De Jong also said their bonus money for selling the ticket will go into their general fund, which goes towards supporting unhoused individuals and veterans, as well as providing various other services in Southern California. There are actually 26 Elks Lodges among the California Lottery’s more than 23,000 retail partners.
