Regular store proves lucky for New York couple Drawing Date: 8/27/2019 October 10, 2019 – Robert and Elaine McEnroe of Painted Post, N.Y., are the most recent winners of the $1,000,000 Mega Millions second prize. They matched the first five numbers drawn for the August 27 drawing. Robert is a regular customer at the store where he purchased their ticket. “I’ve been going there for years,” he explained. “When I realized I had the winning ticket it didn’t feel real.” Upon realizing their good fortune he put the ticket away for safe keeping. “I put the ticket in a dresser drawer so I wouldn’t lose it.” The winning Mega Millions numbers for the August 27 drawing were 08-12-23-39-43 Mega Ball 06. The McEnroe’s opted to split their one-time lump sum payment and will each receive a net check totaling $335,900 after required withholdings. “We’ll use the winnings to pay off some bills and enjoy financial security,” he said. “We also plan to do some traveling with family.” The winning ticket was purchased at the Dandy Mini Mart on South Hamilton Street in Painted Post. The New York Lottery contributed $24,519,675 in Lottery Aid to Education to school districts in Steuben County during fiscal year 2018-2019.
