Regular New York player wins $1,000,000 prize

May 31, 2018 - Fifty-two-year-old Joseph Barulich is New York’s most recent winner of a $1,000,000 Mega Millions second prize. The Woodside, N.Y., man matched the first five numbers drawn for the May 8 drawing earning him his $1,000,000 payday.
“I play Mega Millions every week,” said Barulich. “I walked into the store and the clerk told me someone won there so I scanned my ticket and it was the winner.”
Barulich said he created quite the scene when he realized his good fortune. “I started jumping up and down in the store and pulled a muscle in my leg!”
The winning Mega Millions numbers for the May 8 drawing were 8-15-39-64-67 Mega Ball 13. The $1,000,000 Mega Millions second prize is paid as a one-time lump sum payment. Barulich will receive a net check totaling $633,040 after required withholdings.
Barulich’s biggest plans for his winnings are for his daughter. “I plan to spoil my daughter. She is my life.” He also plans to buy himself a Harley.
The winning ticket was purchased at 4 Your Convenience on 30th Avenue in Woodside.
